Duje Tadin

The mechanisms of visual motion percetion

Dr. Duje Tadin is the full professor of Brain and Cognitive Sciences, Ophthalmology, Neuroscience and Visual Science at the University of Rochester. He has been the Chair of the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences since 2018. Dr. Tadin obtained his PhD in 2004 at Vanderbilt University. He studies the mechanisms of human perception and cognition, with areas of focus in motion perception, cognitive and perceptual learning, adaptation, multisensory interactions, virtual reality, and binocular vision. Dr. Tadin’s research covers both neurotypical and clinical groups, including cognitive aging, stroke, autism, concussion, corneal disease, low-vision, and schizophrenia. His work has been published in high profile journals such as Nature, Nature Neuroscience, PNAS, and Nature Communications. His significant contributions to vision science have been recognized by multiple awards, including the Elsevier/Vision Sciences Society Young Investigator Award in 2014 and Distinguished Alumnus Award from Vanderbilt University in 2019.

Dr. Tadin will give a talk about mechanisms of visual motion perception, and share his experience and tips on the opportunities and challenges for early-careers scientists.
